You can simply buy a packet of card inviations from your local news agent/card shop - or at the other end of the scale you can commission extravagant hand made stationery. Consider your budget before considering how much stationery you want, and if you want to send each guest a Save The Date Card, an invite for the Engagement Party and then the Wedding Ceremony, hand them an Order of Service, and afterwards send a Thank You card these costs can spiral. Contact some companies and ask to view some samples with a price card, or visit their website, and decide what you can afford for the style you would like. You may decide you don't need the Save The Date Cards to match the Thank You Cards, as there could easily be a year between the distribution of these. Make ordering your stationery one of your first priorities when planning your Wedding, and check the delivery/creation time. You may have to wait a while for delicate hand made pieces, so make sure you don't leave it too late to get what you really want. This also gives you plenty of time to wirte the invitations. If you're having a lot of guests just write 2 a night for a few weeks. Ask your supplier whether you would be best to order all your stationery at once - if you buy Engagement Invitations from a printers, and then return 6 months later to order your Wedding Invitations, it would disappointing to find they've discontinued that design. Meanwhile, a stationer making you hand made creations may prefer to spread out the work. Of course, you could always make you own - exactly how you want them, and to your own time scale. However, whilst this will be a cheaper alternative, don't assume it will be lots cheaper, as high quality materials do cost. You may wish to use the opportunity of sending out invitations to distribute lists of accommodation and maps, to save on a another round of postage later. You will have to decide who you want your invitations to be sent by. Traditionally, it was the parents of the Bride who 'hosted' the Wedding, by, basically, paying for it and asking guests to attend. Now-a-days you may prefer to invite your guests yourselves. Below are some possible wordings for inside invitations: (Brides Parent's Names) Request the pleasure of the company of (Guests Name(s)) at the wedding of (Bride's Name) with (Groom's Name) at (Church/Place of Ceremony) on (Date) at (Time) and afterwards at (Venue of Reception) Please R.S.V.P by (Date) to (Parent's Address) ********** (Bride & Groom's Names) Request the pleasure of your company at their wedding at (Church/Place of Ceremony) on (Date) at (Time) and afterwards at (Venue of Reception) Please R.S.V.P by (Date) to (Address of Choice) ...or a mixture of any of the above. Ideally, your Wedding invites should be sent out approx. 2 months before the wedding, with an R.S.V.P date of 1 month before the wedding, to allow you to arrange table plans and make final arrangements with the caterers. If you have not sent out 'Save The Date Cards' you may wish to send the invitations out more like 3 months ahead of the Wedding.
