Wedding Planning Guide - Arranging the venue
Return to Wedding Planning Topics List

Stately HomeBefore you book your venue, entertainment or caterers (if appropriate), ensure that your first choice for all of these are available for the same date.

Try not to book anything until you've checked/arranged everything. Try asking the person/business if they could 'pencil you in' temporarily, until you can give them a firm answer.

A long engagement is sometimes the way to ensure you get the venue and other services of your choice all available on the same day.

Wedding VenuesIf your venue is a hotel, it may be possible to include some rooms for any guests who want to stay over in your wedding package.

When choosing a venue also consider the amount of people you want to invite. This is not necessarily a case of making sure the venue isn't too full. A huge venue - no matter how seemingly perfect - can feel empty with not many people in it.

It is worth noting that not all venues allow outside caterers, so you will have to have a careful discussion with the Banqueting Manager/Proprieter about what is available and whether this suits your needs.
